IMI DESIGN STUDIO OF SCOTTSDALE NAMED U.S. CHAMBER BLUE RIBBON SMALL BUSINESS AWARD WINNER

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. [February 19, 2014] – IMI Design is being honored in June at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Small Business Summit in Washington D.C. The Scottsdale based company is being recognized as one of only 100 companies nationwide and two in Arizona, to be named a Blue Ribbon Small Business Award Winner. This is the first year IMI Design has won the Blue Ribbon Small Business Award. The Chamber will announce seven regional finalists on March 19 and honor all of this year’s Blue Ribbon Small Business Award winners at the 10th annual America’s Small Business Summit, taking place June 11 to 13 in Washington, D.C.

The awards program, sponsored by Sam’s Club®, honors and recognizes companies that demonstrate excellent business practices in several areas including strategy, employee development, community involvement and customer service.

“As the business community has worked hard to do its part in moving the country forward economically, small businesses have continued to be the driving force responsible for much of our progress,” U.S. Chamber President and CEO Thomas J. Donohue said. “Our Blue Ribbon Award winners are the best of the best—growing and succeeding despite significant challenges.”

IMI Design Studio has a long history of giving back to the community.  In 2006, Anita Lang, owner and principal designer of IMI Design decided that she wanted to do more to empower the community.  She established the Inspire Foundation with a two-fold mission:  to bring the power of design to a deserving nonprofit organization and to create a student competition that fosters student talent and shines a spotlight on their work.  Each year the Inspire Foundation selects a beneficiary for a free make over.  Interior design students are invited to present their design concepts to a panel of judges.  The winning design is implemented and awarded a $1,000 scholarship.

The Foundation’s work within the community has put IMI Design Studio on local and national radar screen.   IMI Design has won multiple local awards for its contributions and business strategy.

“Being honored among top small businesses in the nation is a true privilege,” said Lang. “I’m honored to represent the business community at this national event.”
