THE LUXURY OF OUTDOOR LIVING: A Patio on Lake Tahoe
One of the main benefits of a home on Lake Tahoe is the beauty of the outdoors. For a family who loves entertaining the perfect outdoor space included generous seating area, a BBQ area, a dining area and, of course, a way to keep warm in the almost always cool temperatures. That’s exactly what this wonderful outdoor living area provides. The space planning for this second floor patio that runs along the front of the home required a bit of ingenuity but the product was absolute luxury on the same level as the interior.
Architectural detailing included in the design are horizontal copper bands with lighting, recladding posts in hot rolled steel and new, simplified railing with perimeter lighting. The custom designed front door truly rounds out the space. By incorporating the natural materials included throughout the rest of the home there is a sense of continuity in the design that brings the space in as part of the whole instead of abandoning it as merely an outdoor area.
Along with the materials used in the structure of the area, the furnishings themselves are truly high end, top quality pieces. The fire pit is a custom design and will be discussed in depth tomorrow. The remaining pieces, however were customized through the John Brooks showroom here in Scottsdale. The majority of the furnishings were manufactured by the prestigious Kettal company out of Barcelona while the planters and other outdoor items are products of David Sutherland. The beautiful pops of color embodied in the accent pillows were fabricated by Designer’s Workroom here in the Valley and truly serve to set off the area as a luxury space and not a sparsely clad patio.
