LUXURY IS IN THE DETAILS
In our previous blog in this series we discussed the luxurious sensation of being a patron of the arts. Not only do you get to participate in the creation of a work of art, that final product is yours and only yours. Aside from the exclusivity of such a one of a kind item the quality and attention to detail it contains will be truly unsurpassed. Fellow designer and current president of the Arizona North Chapter of ASID says that is in fact her personal definition of luxury: “Quality and attention to detail.” It is in that level of detail that a sense of luxury emerges. It’s not some molded resin copy with blurred lines. It is an item that someone poured their time and skill into creating and the care and excellence can be seen and felt. Every detail has been thought of and is absolutely perfect.
From a design perspective, it is this attention to detail that elevates a space from simply being decorated to being designed. I firmly believe that the structure of the space plays a major role in its impact. For that reason I always start with the structure and the architectural details that will elevate it to a luxurious work of art. It is in the details such as the molding execution, a perfect fireplace composition or a ceiling element that one is able to see the time and attention spent developing the final product.
