It is not a mere coincidence that places can “feel” differently. Anita Lang has always incorporated into her design philosophy the fact that the environment and the items within it affect each person on a deep, emotional level. Interior design is not just about the functionality and the outward expression of a given space. To us at IMI Design Studio, design is the catalyst and an agent of change that transforms the space and creates a feeling and an experience that is not just seen, but also felt. Light, form, composition, scale, colors and textures all play a significant part in creating an environment that impacts and heals us on a deep level. One such area that impacts an interior environment powerfully is the manner in which an item is fabricated. In an age of mass produced machine -made goods, a piece that is formed by human hands resonates a healing energy and is a gift to its owner of the artist’s passion and creative genius. We believe our clients benefit greatly from the presence of such pieces in their spaces. Aside from the emotional connection to such handmade pieces, the art form and craftsmanship employed by many of these artisans – from furniture fabrication to wall coverings – are dying arts. We consider it not only our privilege but also our responsibility to support these arts when possible; we thank our clients who, much like the patron families of the Renaissance, show appreciation for the artisans by supporting them so generously. This allows the skills of fine quality furniture craftsmanship, as well as artists of all mediums, the ability to refine their discipline and even explore innovative new designs for us and generations to come.
As we share this amazing patronage and responsibility, we feel privileged to explain the stories behind each work of art and guide our clients in their decisions on these remarkable investments. By sharing this patronage, we invest not just one home, but in an entire culture. Please visit our weekly blog and Facebook page, as well as keep reading our newsletters, as we will be featuring many of these artists over the next few months. We also look forward to hearing from you! If you know of true craftsmen or artists that you’d like to tell us about, please send an email to Luke@imidesignstudio.com!

Save the date and join us on February 28th!
Join Anita Lang and the Inspire Design Foundation for a fun-filled evening as we celebrate all of this year’s nominees and take final vote to select the beneficiary for this year. Who will you give your heart to?
– The Foundation for Blind Children – serving the blind and visually impaired of all ages, from birth up. With three Phoenix-area campuses, FBC provides education, tools and services that enable all persons with vision loss to achieve greater independence. The organization’s vision is to have a world where vision loss is a diagnosis, not a disability. FBC has asked us to help them update the design of their East Valley Campus.
– The Youth Advisory Council at the Chandler Cultural Foundation. Teens selected to serve in the Council focus on Arts Appreciation, Community Service & Leadership Skills in order to become advocates for the arts and well rounded community leaders. They have asked us to give their meeting room, loving dubbed “the dungeon” a glorious make-over.
Your chance to cast the final vote! Please mark your calendar for 4:30 p.m. Thursday, February 28th and come celebrate with us and cast your heart for one of the above organizations! Our theme for this event is “Through the Looking Glass” – celebrating inspired design through the magical and whimsical words of Lewis Carroll. Learn how the power of design will transform one incredible community organization through the work of the Inspire Design Foundation. Email us for details on the event: Luke@imidesignstudio.com
