We want to say a huge thank you to all of the people who donated to Inspire Foundation during the Arizona Gives Day. It is only through generous support from those around us that allows us to accomplish this goal.

We are still working diligently to reach our goal of $60,000.00 before the end of May in order to full achieve Phase 2 of the project at the Foundation for Blind Children. If anyone is able to donate any amount or would be interested in sponsoring a space all of the information can be found on our website and donations can be made directly from the webpage.

Thank you all.

What a truly incredible and blessed month this has been. From the international pre-launch exhibit in Milan to a charitable gala here in Phoenix we have been excited to be a part of it all.

As we settle in to the new normal here we wanted to make sure we keep all of our friends and partners up to date on everything that is going on.

Throughout the year the city of Milan, Italy hosts many high profile events, but every April the city literally transforms into a global hot spot for the furniture industry.   This April, an estimated 357,000 visitors from around the world gathered for Milan’s famed Design Week.  Our new furniture company, Design 528, was thrilled to launch the “Planes Collection” at Materials Village which, located inside the prestigious design museum: La Triennale di Milano, was part of the myriad of activities surrounding the 53rd annual Salone Internazionale del Mobile.

During the week-long show, our furniture line received rave reviews from architects, designers, industry students and teachers from around the world.  The interest in our line was incredibly encouraging! Invitations and connections to showrooms and event organizers from every part of the globe including Russia, Finland, Greece, Taiwan and Dubai among others, was an incredible tribute to the caliber of our line.  We were met with extremely positive feedback from the global design community and formed many lasting relationships that will ensure our furniture line remains on the international forefront.  While there are fifty (50) pieces in our new furniture collection, we chose the Vision Box, to bring to Milan. This unique piece of furniture was created to showcase the importance of living with intention. The Vision Box was perceived by many as one of the most innovative pieces at the show because it offered a truly unique and interactive experience.  The Vision Box is designed to hold a customized “vision board” inside and it also gives its owners the opportunity to practice intentional living through the ancient art of Feng Shui.  The space inside the box is modeled after the Bagua, which is regarded in Feng Shui as a sacred pattern determining the significance and auspicious qualities of spatial relationships, representing the fundamental principles life.  From day one at the show, our Vision Box generated lots of attention and became one of the most memorable items presented at the show.  You can learn more about our new collection on our website!

The International Alliance for the Prevention of AIDS (IAPA) hosted its 8th annual Hope in the Face of AIDS gala on Saturday, April 19. Design 528 was pleased to donate a custom Vision Box from its new Planes Collection as part of the live auction to raise funds for the organization. Anita Lang was also on hand as the honorary auctioneer for the item.

Donating a piece of furniture that was designed and created with passion in order to help others complete their mission of love is a most appropriate way to launch Planes Collection by Design 528

Anita Speaks at Career Day for Interior Design Students

Photo: Amidst getting ready for Milan, two client presentations and everything else going on right now I was lucky enough to be able to pass on a bit of information gleaned over the past few years to our aspiring future interior designers. Hopefully it was beneficial and they can learn a bit from what I had to share.

It is incumbent on any professional to pass on information gleaned over the years to the upcoming generations. In this way the profession as a whole is able to reach new heights. With this in mind, Anita took an afternoon to speak at a career day sponsored by ASID Arizona North. There she addressed an audience of upcoming interior design professionals regarding The Five Commandments of Design.

Excerpts of the address are available on Anita’s blog.

Integrating Landscape Design, Architecture and Interior Design

Anita was recently invited to speak as a presenter on interior design and outdoor living at the ASID Arizona North Chapter meeting held at the Desert Botanical Garden on April 17th. As always, speaking among such talented professionals
such as Erik Peterson and Chris McKibben is an honor.

The presentation is recapped in a blog that can be found here.

I Spy…
by: Anita

…Passion changing the world. That’s what I SPY this month. As most of you know I’ve had the honor and privilege of participating in two spectacular events: the Material Village sponsored by Material ConneXion and the Hope in the Face of AIDS 8th Annual Gala sponsored by the International Alliance for the Prevention of AIDS.

Both of these organizations work to share the passion of individuals with the world around them. At the Material Village I was able to meet with designers, architects and numerous others who have an appreciation for the power of design on the human spirit. I was able to share with them my passion and love for the profession and, in particular, for the new Design 528 Planes Collection. Each one of the people I was able to speak with will go back to their homes knowing that the power of love, truth, beauty and joy can change the world when applied to daily life through passion. And, just as I was able to share with others, I was also able to see what others are doing and how their passion is changing the world. From innovative new materials at the Materials Village to beautiful designs at the Salone to, back home, the power of healing in an area of great need.

Through the passion of the two men who founded the organization an entire city is experiencing the life changing affects of what love, truth, beauty and joy can accomplish. This is evident by the shear turn out for the event including personalities such as the current reigning Miss America, Nina Davuluri and Chef Gabriele Bertaccini of il Tocco.

Seeing the world through eyes filled with passion and love is what allows me to move forward and continue creating designs that elevate the human spirit.
