“Glam it up!” was the clients’ request for this space. The clients had relocated from New York and felt the home was a bit vanilla for their ideal dream home. “We wanted glam, yet a sleek, contemporary vibe.” And from the first moments we sat down together the energy started to flow. From there the concept was developed and began taking shape before their very eyes. It was such a fun experience.

The great room itself has an awkward length that made entertaining somewhat of an issue. A bit of clever space planning and a custom sectional with seating on both sides intersected the room. Additional banco seating beneath the windows transformed that long space into a perfect center for visiting with friends.

This particular couple has traveled the world and collected mementos from all over that they wanted to showcase. What a beautiful way to surround yourself with the wonderful memories you have created over time! This collection of small scale art pieces was distributed throughout the home in various ways: from shadow boxes in the dining room to an ebony trimmed gallery type display in the den. Incorporating items that are unique to the client and mean something special to them is a way that truly personalizes the space.Great Room

The clients were living in the home during the months of remodeling and said “Vendors doing their work between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM was difficult to handle on a daily basis.” I can only imagine! But, they also said that seeing the ideas come to life made it very real for them. Being so involved in the project on that day-to-day basis can really make remodeling an experience. Not only do you get to see the transformation taking place in front of you but you get to be part of that transformation.

This project, that was so fun to work on, and with such wonderful clients, was honored by placing in this year’s ASID AZ North Design Excellence Awards. Not only did it place first in the Remodel category it won Best In Show Overall! What a privilege and honor! I am so proud to have been a part of the team that worked on this and so happy that this beautiful couple can enjoy their new dream home just the way they want it!
